Video Exploitation Tool Comes in Pocket-Sized Format

L-3 Interstate Electronics Corp. has released a new micro version of the company’s VideoScout video exploitation and management system. The VideoScout-MXR includes an integrated receiver to enable forward personnel to directly receive, exploit and disseminate video and telemetry data from multiple ISR sensors, including UAVs. Weighing only 3.1 pounds and designed to fit conveniently into a warfighter’s cargo-pocket or backpack, the handheld VideoScout-MXR is a full-featured Windowsbased computer that extends functionality beyond traditional receive and view only systems. The system is delivered with one integrated L, C or S-band receiver and can be ordered with optional user replaceable receiver bands. L-3’s VideoScout-MXR allows personnel to display live video with full DVR features, extract subset video, create images with telemetry data, and annotate and archive video and images for easy search, retrieval and dissemination. To help share a common view of the battle space, VideoScout-MXR has capability to connect to a network, large monitors, keyboards or peripherals to create a full, shared workstation environment.

Ethernet Service Enhancements Reduce Network Costs

Sycamore Networks has announced Ethernet service enhancements for the SN 9000 Intelligent Multiservice Switch. The new Multirate Ethernet Card expands the rich diversity of service interfaces supported by the SN 9000 to include Ethernet line rates from 10/100/1000 Mbps to 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Designed to simplify the convergence of packet and circuit services in metro core and regional networks, the 8-port Multirate Ethernet Card for the SN 9000 provides flexible and efficient Ethernet transport for optical and electrical services at 10/100/1000 Mbps line rates—on a single card. With the addition of multirate Ethernet capabilities, the SN 9000 offers network operators a broader range of service offerings in a highly compact, pay-as-you-grow systems architecture. The ability to cost-effectively meet diverse service needs and capacity requirements in a single multiservice platform allows network operators to dramatically improve utilization of service bandwidth and reduce overall network costs.

Crusher Destroys All Computer Hard Drives

The new Model 0101 Sledgehammer Hard Drive Crusher from Security Engineered Machinery destroys all computer hard drives regardless of their size, format or type. A drive (or multiple laptop/notebook drives) is placed in the crusher, the safety door is closed, and at the touch of a button a conical punch inside the unit delivers a staggering 12,000 pounds of hydraulic force, causing catastrophic trauma to the hard drive’s chassis while destroying its internal platter. Destruction takes only 10 seconds. Quick, quiet and clean, the Sledgehammer makes it easy for offices, hospitals, data centers and other facilities to destroy large quantities of confidential/sensitive information in a timely manner in accordance with various government regulations and industry standards. The Sledgehammer also satisfies National Security Agency requirements for physical destruction of drives after they have been degaussed by an NSA-listed degausser. The Sledgehammer is compact and portable and is virtually vibration free. A standard 120V wall outlet is adequate for its extremely low power consumption. To protect the operator, a safety interlock prevents the unit from functioning while the door is open, and an emergency stop button halts operation.

Encrypted Hard Drive Provides Full Data Protection

Rocsecure’s Rocsafe MX Mobile is the world’s first encrypted hard drive enclosure with FIPS level 2 Smartcard protection. It employs real-time hardware encryption for protecting data on the hard drive and smartcard technology for authentication. Designed to encrypt all data on the fly, Rocsafe MX Mobile requires no software installation and operates independently of the operating system. A unique feature of Rocsafe MX Mobile is that it has an embedded keypad allowing users to key their PIN directly onto the unit. This ensures protection from key-loggers that may be recording your keystrokes. Together with full disk encryption and smartcard-based authentication, these features give you the ultimate level of protection with an unrivaled ease of use. Rocsafe MX is a hardware-based encryption device that secures data in a SATA hard disk drive against hackers and information thieves. Uniquely designed as a “bump in the wire” device on the SATA cable, the Rocsafe MX requires no mounting and simply plugs in between the SATA connector on the motherboard and the hard disk drive. It operates transparently and encrypts all data written onto the hard disk without any loss in disk performance. Once deployed, users would be assured that all the data on the Rocsafe MX is fully protected from unauthorized access in the event the hard disk is lost or stolen. ♦
