Team Orlando Update

On Thursday, May 13, 2010, a full house gathered in the Emerging Technology Collaboration Center (ETCC) to celebrate a turning point in Team Orlando history. The Joint Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Co-Lab officially welcomed DAU to their new site location at a ceremony commemorating their partnership. This Lab will leverage learning technology applications from the Team Orlando partners to enhance DAU courseware.“All of you are involved in something so significant.” Mr. Frank Anderson, President, DAU, tells the crowd. “Helping save lives, rebuilding the economy and maximizing great leadership. I am proud to be here today for this celebration.”
Capt (Ret) Kent Gritton, Director, Joint Training Integration and Evaluation Center, provided the welcoming remarks, followed by Dr. Kristy Murray, Director, ADL Co-Labs, and Mr. Anderson. DAU and ADL jointly demonstrated their shared projects and prototypes in the ETCC by highlighting locally developed serious games and virtual worlds. Government and industry VIPs including Adm. (Ret) Al Harms, Assistant Vice President for Research at UCF; Lt. Gen. (Ret) Tom Baptiste, Exec. Director, National Center for Simulation; and Col. Marcus Boyd, Commander, Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation attended. Dr. Murray touched on ADL’s presence in Orlando and how it has grown, “We came here 10 years ago to partner (with Team Orlando’s military modeling and simulation organizations) and now, with the addition of DAU we have another way to leverage our technology to make an even greater impact.” ♦
