Q: Who is Presagis, and what is its primary focus?
A: Presagis is the new leader in COTS software solutions for the modeling and simulation industry. We are a single vendor offering the most comprehensive support and the most advanced technology on the market. To ensure that we maintain the highest level of customer care and technological innovation, we are focusing on our five product categories, namely simulation, visualization, content creation, human machine interface [HMI], and embedded graphics displays.
Q: CAE combined its acquisitions of Engenuity Technologies, MultiGen-Paradigm, and TERREX with an existing CAE COTS software team to create Presagis. This being said, what is Presagis’ background, especially when it comes to providing services for military training?
A: We have a long-standing history of providing quality service for military training. Our original companies have years of experience in the aerospace and defense industry on a wide range of projects, and now our combined team is even better able to meet the changing needs of this important market. One of the ways Presagis is working to address the specific needs of military training is by integrating industry standards into our product roadmap. Our core technology is built on open standards and features several of the market’s most powerful and widely used brands, including STAGE, AI.implant, Vega Prime, VAPS XT, Terra Vista and Creator. Our knowledge of industry standards will help facilitate the military’s adoption of new technologies, like artificial intelligence [AI], into their development pipelines. Sophisticated AI is playing a larger and increasingly important role in military training, and Presagis is at the forefront of AI development.
Q: Could you talk about how Presagis is in line with CAE’s long-term strategy to create a single, unified, COTS simulation software business?
A: Presagis is an integrated part of CAE’s technology vision to bring innovative COTS software to the marketplace. Presagis brings together a powerful product portfolio that will help our customers build applications faster, without compromising on value, training and creative vision. By drawing on the strengths of the combined companies that make up Presagis, we are positioned to break new ground in technology development and deliver the highest possible standards of innovation and customer service. Specifically, we see a strong technology demand in MOUT, UAVs and other disaster preparedness and response scenarios. With these demands in mind, Presagis is laser-focused on addressing customer needs by delivering cutting- edge technology through its uniquely integrated product portfolio. CAE has been working on a huge number of disruptive technologies, many of which have yet to be brought to the market. Presagis now has the ability to take these innovations, productize them as COTS tools and bring them to market.
Q: Could you discuss how Presagis will expand the possibilities for modeling and simulation as well as the company’s portfolio of technologies?
A: Presagis will transform the modeling and simulation industry by delivering advanced software solutions and by engaging in cutting-edge R&D. The formation of Presagis has allowed us to create a research and technology group made up of an A-team of engineers and industry experts. This team works with our business development group to better understand what the needs of our customers will be in 24 to 48 months. By focusing on our five areas of expertise, we will leverage our vast experience to respond to the rapidly changing needs of the industry and spearhead technological innovation.
Q: What sets Presagis apart from your competitors?
A: Presagis’ key differentiator lies in its ability to not only deliver individual product solutions but also to offer a comprehensive suite of integrated COTS software products for modeling and simulation. Instead of forcing customers to source disparate parts from various vendors, we now offer an integrated suite of COTS software from a single vendor, providing seamless integration into visualization and simulation applications. By integrating our products and services, we help our customers lower costs, risks, and reduce development schedules. Customers now have only one point of contact for all support needs to speed and optimize the use of our COTS software. For example, large system integrators such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Rockwell Collins, will benefit from having one point of contact for all of sales and service needs. This will greatly simplify the procurement of a complete COTS modeling and simulation software solution while also providing a greater ability to benefit from cost savings.
Q: What does the future have in store for Presagis?
A: Our vision is to be the leader in the modeling and simulation market and our goal is to be recognized as the leading provider of innovative COTS modeling, simulation and embedded display technology for the aerospace and defense industry.
