Concurrent Technologies Corporation

Q: What is Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) and what has been the company’s primary focus since its founding in 1987?

A: CTC is an independent, nonprofit, applied research and development professional services organization that provides management and technology based solutions to a wide array of clients representing state and federal government as well as the private sector. CTC’s primary focus is to lead the development of highly innovative and effective solutions designed to fit the specific needs of our clients. We deliver tailored situations without bias for specific technology, and we are committed to helping government, industry, and nonprofit organizations gain and sustain a competitive advantage.

Q: What is CTC’s background, especially when it comes to providing services for military training?

A: CTC has been providing a wide range of education and training (E&T) services to our military clients since its founding in 1987. Our successful track record stems from CTC’s ability to assemble diverse project teams that include not only expertise in the disciples of E&T, but also former military trainers and educators that bring domain knowledge and experience. Our former military members have served at all echelons, both officer and enlisted ranks, in each of the military services and understand the issues, needs and demands placed on the military training community. Leveraging the power of multi-disciplined teams, CTC has provided professional services and technical solutions that include: traditional classroom training, distributed learning and SCORM development, blended learning, collaborative and immersive environments, gaming technology, modeling and simulation, technology assessment, and legacy content conversion.

Q: How has CTC’s successes in education and training positively impacted the military user?

A: CTC is proud to cite committed and sustained support for a number of DoD initiatives with marked accomplishments and tangible impacts to military users. Involved with the ADL Initiative since nearly its inception, CTC operates the ADL Technology Center and provides technical leadership for the ongoing development and maintenance of the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM). It has had a positive impact on military users by making training content more easily accessible, interoperable and reusable. As the prime contractor supporting the establishment and realization of the initial Joint Knowledge Development and Distribution Capability (JKDDC) Joint Management Office (JMO), a key enabler to Training Transformation, CTC continues to provide technical and professional services to JFCOM targeted at achieving the JKDDC Vision of being the premier provider of relevant, timely and globally accessible joint knowledge, preparing individuals to support combatant commanders and national security anytime, anywhere. Through our Center for Educational Technologies, CTC provides services for professional military education (PME) institutions within DoD to assist professors to blend new technology solutions in their classroom instruction. These technology solutions are not only enablers of learning, but also allow students to relate and retain more knowledge.

Q: How does CTC partner with its clients to ensure that they benefit from the full breadth of the company’s capabilities?

A: CTC works closely with each of our clients to fully understand, meet and anticipate their needs today and tomorrow. With an emphasis on strong partnership and true teamwork, CTC is committed to establishing long-term relationship that will see our clients meet their goals and objectives well into the future. CTC employs more than 1,500 high-caliber professionals, with a significant number having advanced degrees, specialized domain knowledge, and unique experience. As a matrix-managed organization, project teams can be readily assembled to bring individuals with the right background, knowledge, skills, and abilities together to meet client needs in a timely, cost-effective manner. Partnering with leading research institutions, government agencies and other organizations, CTC identifies, develops, analyzes and applies the right technologies to position our clients for world-class competitiveness. Our work in applied R&D moves high technology concepts from laboratories to practical applications by government and industry. CTC’s ability to conduct in-depth, impartial assessments of programs, processes, systems and technologies results in affordable solutions that improve operations and add value.

Q: What does the future have in store for CTC?

A: CTC’s education and training solutions will continue to encompass the full range of military and government training and mission support solutions. We look to continue delivering innovative technologies and solutions that help our customers conquer new challenges. These solutions include integrated training environments that encompass live virtual and constructive models; simulation and training solutions for mission planning and readiness, battlefield simulation, emergency response and domestic terrorism; collective training systems; scenario training using gamebased technology; and embedded training solutions. ♦
